Our Top Picks for 2016

By SwimTrek HUB , 18 January, 2016

With 2016 now in full swing, it's time to start thinking about where to go swimming this year. To help you along the way, here are our top picks for 2016;

Under Water in the BVI

Early Season Escape | British Virgin Islands

What better way to start your year than with sun-blushed swims in the Caribbean. On this trip you'll be in island-hopping heaven as you make your way along entire length of the British Virgin Islands. With a daily swim average of 6km, it's a perfect chance to stretch out your stroke before the swim season ahead. Above and below the water, these tropical islands are truly a sight to behold with stunning sea-life, reefs and forests to discover.

Lady of Avenel

Expedition | Swim Across Britain

In true pioneering spirit, we've launched a new expedition! This July a small group of 12 swimmers will navigate their way through the Great Glen, from Loch Linnhe on the Atlantic Ocean to the Swim Across Britain finish line at the Moray Firth on the North Sea. The swimmers' home and companion for this world first expedition is the Lady of Avenel tall ship, a 102-ft Bringatine square rigger providing a place to refuel and rest under the starlit sky of the Scottish Highlands.

The Stunning Greek Sporades

SwimTrek Plus | Greek Sporades

The scattered islands of the Sporades continues to be a classic SwimTrek location. In 2016 we are making more of this exploratory trip adding an extra day of swimming, bringing it into the new 'SwimTrek Plus' trip category. From our base at the luxurious hilltop Hotel Atrium, we set of each day and make our way down the remote coastlines as we swim between the scattered islands, taking in the protected waters of the Alonissos National Marine Park.

Swimming across the Hellespont

World Classic Swim | Hellespont Swim

Make 2016 the year that you take on the ultimate open water swim, the Hellespont! Steeped in mythology and history, the challenging 4.5km swim is a must for true open water swimming enthusiasts. Participants from across the globe come together as the world's most concentrated shipping lane comes to a halt for the annual Victory Day swim between Europe and Asia. Those who conquer the swim come away as a true cross-continental swimmer.

Coaching Trip: 10km Training Camp - Mallorca

Who said training had to be boring? In 2016 we've designed a training camp that is ideal for those with a 10km swim in their sights, or those who have a few under their belt already but are looking for ways to become more efficient in the water over longer distances. Set on Mallorca's southeast shore, the six-day camp provides focused technique sessions in the pool, as well as open water swims, including an optional 10km swim at the end of this challenging and rewarding trip.
