Tour Highlights
Enter the sheltered Turneffe Atoll surrounded by a fringing coral reef - the largest of three coral atolls in Belize.
Swim in areas with incredible underwater vistas that are home to a variety of marine life, including turtles, dolphins and tropical reef fish
Enjoy inviting warm and clear waters around the atoll, where you will often see the bottom of the lush sea grass beds
Relax after a great days swimming in the beautiful Turneffe Flats resorts, where you'll enjoy views over the Caribbean Sea and all meals are included
Crystal-clear seas, shallow reefs, and abundant wildlife make Belize a swimmer’s paradise. The second-largest coral reef in the world, home to over 500 fish species and 100 coral species, is located here. We’re based at Turneffe Atoll, the largest in Belize, known for its biological diversity.
The region has over 150 islands and cays, teeming with fish, lobster, conch, and other marine life. Three important fish spawning sites are also located around the atoll. Expect to see tropical fish, rays, sea turtles, lobsters, dolphins, and possibly manatees as you swim along the reefs and lagoons.
We’ll stay at Turneffe Flats Resort, an eco-tourism hub at the north of the atoll. When not swimming, enjoy the resort’s oceanfront pool, sea kayaks, beach, and bar.
Who is this trip for?
This trip is for swimmers who want to explore both extended reefs and lagoons in a protected environment, where you can see the sea bottom most of the time. This remote location is ideally situated to discover both exciting swims and unusual wildlife and offers the chance for swimmers to disconnect and enjoy an uninterrupted swimming holiday.
Swimmers should have a basic understanding of open water swimming and be capable of completing the average swim distance and average daily swim distance (over the course of two swims) prior to the start of the trip.
The average swim distance is around 2.5km. The average daily swim distance is around 5km.
We have given this trip a ‘Moderate’ grading. Most swimmers comfortable in the open water will be able to take part and enjoy one of these trips.
