Blue, clear waters (with perfect visibility!)
The stunning waters that surround the shores of Kaş are the postcard shades of blue that are the stuff of dreams. These waters have hit the jackpot with vividness of their hues, as well as being bright enough to see all the underwater vistas and not to mention temperatures as warm as a bath!
Enjoy your week from a stunning traditional boat
We have the pleasure of spending our week on the Mediterranean aboard a beautiful gullet, a traditional Turkish two mast boat. Mustafa, our pilot, takes immaculate care in his ship which provides us with the transportation to our swims, our dining room for our lunches and a lounge to relax on. The size of the boat allows for ample room for everyone on board to enjoy a comfortable sail and there also features a raised deck at the back of the boat where you can relish the views aboard these stunning traditional vessels after a long day’s swim.
Amazing food with lunch served hot on board
As well as having the opportunity to try out your picks of local dinners in the town, all lunches and breakfasts are included in the price of your trip. Consistently voted one of the best SwimTrek lunches, this is the highlight food wise for many previous guests, and enjoy some of the best home cooked meals when you’re served hot lunches on board. Relax in between your swims with some of the best local food of the region.
Walk the iconic Lycian Way
Turkey’s first long-distance footpath, The Lycian Way, which stretches from Ölüdeniz to Geyikbayırı runs through our base for the week when we walk along it at Aperlai. The hiking route sees some of the best of the Turkish south coast where you can see the great views overlooking the green tinged seas of this area.
Take a short trip to Greece
The Greek island of Kastelorizo is visible from the town of Kaş and is only a short 20-minute boat ride away. A picturesque, colourful coastal town has all the traditional looks of a Greek village and a great way to experience two cultures so closely. The island sits on the horizon as we complete our swims and makes for a great day trip after your SwimTrek tour finishes, just remember to bring your passport!
Views from the mountain at sunset
As Kaş is set at the bottom of steep hills, the views from the mountainside as the sunsets are truly breath-taking. Take an evening and hike up into the hills and marvel at the harbour and surrounding islands as the fading light dances across the water. We love this area and consider it one of the best views in Turkey!
Explore the amphitheatre
Kaş is also home to a beautifully restored amphitheatre in a landmark position that still occasionally hosts shows in the busier summer months. The surroundings provide perfect acoustics as well as a fantastic backdrop to enjoy a performance or just the view. With Kaş to your left and the islands and peninsular to your right, these are not something to be missed. Another great spot for a sunset!
Our guides love it!
Senior SwimTrek guide Huseyin Dermis has led our SwimTrek trips to Kaş for a number of years, here’s the reasons why he loves the area; ‘I was 20 when I first visited Kaş in 1982. It was love at first sight when I saw its stunning turquoise coastline against spectacular mountains, the uninhabited Kekova Island, and the Lycian ruins, which instantly take you to a timeless place. Thanks to the rugged mountains, Kaş remains refreshingly underdeveloped compared to some nearby towns, yet still has a vibrant night life with plenty of bars and restaurants!’
SwimTrek is running trips to Kas on their Lycian Way tours in 2018 from August. Prices start from £1020.
