SwimTrek Wins The Queen's Award for Enterprise 2017!
SwimTrek is delighted to announce that we have been honoured as a recipient of the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise 2017. We have been awarded the honour in the category for innovation, recognising the pioneering aspect of the development of open water swimming holidays and delivering them to a growing open water swimming and triathlete community.
The Queen's Award for Enterprise are presented to businesses who demonstrate exceptional achievement in business in the categories of International Trade, Innovation, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity. The Innovation category is awarded to the best in pioneering businesses and recognises innovation in untapped markets and outstanding commercial success.
As one of the most prestigious awards in business in the UK, The Queen's Award recognises excellence in commerce and as the first open water swimming holiday company, SwimTrek has demonstrated originality and initiative to be honoured with this award in the Innovation category. Her Majesty The Queen publicly announced the winners on April 21st, Her Majesty’s birthday. SwimTrek will also be honoured at a reception at Buckingham Palace later in the year to celebrate our achievement.
SwimTrek founder Simon Murie had the following to say on winning the Innovation Award:
"It seems only recently that we started running swimming trips to the British Isles and Mediterranean. Open water swimming in idyllic locations was my passion and I was keen to see if others wanted to come along on that journey. 14 years later, many thousands have joined us on our treks, and it's a great honour to be recognised as innovators within the British Travel Industry."
We are all incredibly excited and honoured at SwimTrek HQ. It is a testament not only to the efforts of our staff, but to our loyal guests. We thank you all as without the continued support of our customers, our efforts in innovation would not have been recognised.
