SwimTrek guides Marlys Cappaert and Mark Johnston visited Gresham, Oregon over the weekend to watch and compete in the 2016 United States Masters Swimming (USMS) Summer Nationals. Set in the stunning Pacific Northwest, Mt. Hood Community College boasts one of the fastest and most beautiful 50M outdoor pools in America. The 2016 Summer Nationals draws 1,300 competitors from all of the U. S. (and several countries) ranging in age from 18 to 95-plus!
In addition to volunteering, coaching, and competing in the event, Mark and Marlys were able to outline their plans for SwimTrek’s upcoming River Canyons trip in Arizona this coming October. This adventure is 100% fresh water and travels along the spectacular Canyon Lakes outside of Phoenix (Saguaro, Apache, Canyons, and Roosevelt) where water temperatures should be in the mid-70s (23C) and air temperatures will near 85-degrees (30C).
SwimTrek is a proud partner of USMS, and Mark and Marlys were able to reach out to many swimmers to promote open water adventure swimming. The “Ferries Are for Wimps” t-shirts were a hit, and people were excited to learn about SwimTrek in America and new locations around the world.
See you in the open water soon!
